Sign-in for the Biker’s Poker Run will open at 9:00 am on Saturday, November 10th. You can arrive any time you like. Registration will remain open for the remainder of the day. You must be a registered entrant to turn in a hand and claim a prize, click here to register. The event will close at 4:30pm. Prizes will be awarded at 5:00pm.
A series of new geocaches will be placed along the bike trail in J.B. Starkey Wilderness Park, and extending onto the Suncoast Trail. Some light bushwhacking may be required. The exact number and length of the bike ride is yet to be determined, but it will be at least 15 miles round trip. Although not recommended, this event could also be done on foot or with in-line skates if you can handle the distance. Each geocache will have unique items inside that you will retrieve to prove you were there (please take only one item per cache). Each poker run cache will also contain a log to sign and can be logged as a find at geocaching.com. Upon return to base camp at the shelter in the tent camping area, you will receive one playing card for each item you retrieved from the caches. If you find more than five caches (and thus have more than 5 playing cards), you must select the five cards that make the best poker hand.
The holder of the best poker hand will get to select any prize they like from the Biker’s Poker Run prize table. Then the second place finisher will take their pick, and so on until there are no more prizes or contestants. In the event of a tie, the extra cards held by each contestant will be considered to break the tie.
Note: Any person or team with a geocaching ID (handle) is eligible to enter this event.
What to bring? Participants should bring a GPS device and a bicycle.
What to wear? Participants should wear casual clothes for bicycle riding.
